Electro Havoc V2 is launched!

This plucky little project that I started last summer for a game jam (then put on hiatus for the rest of the year…) is finally in a state I’m happy to share. Yes, there is always “more to be done” and that widget over there “isn’t quite right”. But, figured I’d get V2 out there (you can find V1 if you search but trust me, it isn’t worth it!) and open myself up to constructive criticism to get some feedback from fellow indie gamers.

Introducing: Electro Havoc! This is a twin stick shooter inspired by Geometry Wars on the original Xbox. I loved the simplicity of that game - just stay alive as long as possible while blowing up as many baddies as you could. In this first title that I’ve built in Godot, I attempted as my minimum lovable product (MLP) “AI” that tracks you and avoids obstacles (it’s just a derivative of A* pathfinding…), splash damage from enemy explosions that set off a chain reaction, and to write some simple shaders to get some cool particle effects.

The browser version is a bit janky (you can’t see the enemy explosions so you might see other trailing enemies just disappear as they get damaged from the blast), and suffers from a few performance issues in the latter waves - but it’s a good representative before you hit that Download button.

In the next version, I’d like to implement a rapid fire power-up and maybe a “clear all enemies on screen” blast but given there’s only 10 waves, that might be a tad unnecessary.

So, without further ado, enjoy! Please leave your feedback in the comments.
